All tyres have a tyre code that is used to identify it and this is found on the sidewall of your tyres.
This code serves two main purposes, the first is to identify the size and specification and the second is to confirm the tyre has been tested to approved safety standards.
Your vehicle handbook will confirm your vehicle’s tyre speed and load ratings as well as any additional requirements.
This is the nominal WIDTH of the tyre in mm.
This is the nominal HEIGHT of the tyre wall as a percentage of the nominal width (60% of 225 in this example).
This indicates the tyre is of RADIAL construction which is suitable for cars with a speed capability over 240 KPH (150mph).
This is the rim/wheel DIAMETER that the tyre will fit (inches).
This is the LOAD INDEX of the tyre. It is code that refers to the maximum load each tyre can take.
This is the SPEED RATING of the tyre. It is a code that refers to the maximum speed each tyre can do.
